This past mercury retrograde cycle was a difficult one. Many individuals may have experienced conflicts and other relationship issues over the past few weeks as mercury retrograde prompted miscommunication to run rampant in all areas of our lives for an extended period of time, leaving us feeling out of balance, tired and perhaps even a little depressed or irritable. It's important for us to acknowledge our emotions and honor ourselves by actively healing and releasing that which does not serve our highest good. We should endeavor to release these toxic emotions whenever we discover an imbalance within us instead of 'stuffing down' those emotions as they become toxic to the mind, body and spirit over time. But how do we 'let it go'?

The following is a healing & grounding meditation for those of you that may be going through some emotional times. Especially to those of you who are actively working on releasing the past and letting go of toxic emotions in regards to any situation. This could be getting past a conflict in a relationship, a breakup, part of the grieving process or anything that is impacting you emotionally that is not positive. 

If you feel this applies to you, you can 'let it go' through the process of the following grounding meditation. Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. This can either be in a place of nature, under a tree or simply in the quiet space of your own living room. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position and connect to your breath. Relax your body from your head down to your feet, feeling the weight of your body sink into the gravitational pull of the earth. You may light a white candle if you feel drawn to as well as calling upon any angels or spirit guides to help you with this healing process.

If you are drawn to working with crystals, feel free to use garnet, black tourmaline or any other stone or crystal you prefer working with to aid in the process of grounding these emotions. Don't be afraid to engage your intuition when choosing a stone. If you do not have any crystals but would like to work with a stone, step outside and 'call' to a stone in your mind and look around for the stone that you feel drawn to. When you find the stone you are drawn to, pick it up. This is your huaca (pronounced 'wa-ka') stone, a healing stone used in shamanic practices. Hold the stones/crystals in your hand(s) as you do the meditation. If you are attuned to Reiki or any other energy healing modality, connect to the energy as it will greatly amplify the positive results.

When you are seated or lying down and are completely relaxed, meditate on the following mantra by chanting it over and over to help quicken the release and help ground those painful emotions deep into the earth:

The quicker we learn to let things go, the quicker we heal, the quicker we grow.

As you chant, feel your connection to the earth through its gravitational pull. Go into the energy of the emotion you wish to release by recalling the scenario or situation in your mind. Feel how its negativity affects your mind and body. Keep breathing deep and chanting the mantra as you do this. Visualize that which you are letting go of, seeing the energy as shadowy 'clouds' traveling down your body. Sense, see and feel 'roots' growing from the base of your spine deep into the earth just like a tree or plant. See the dark energy traveling down through your roots to be absorbed into the earth.

Feel the 'quickening' take place within your body as you do this. You may feel tingling or movement in your body as you do this, this is perfectly natural as it is the energy moving. Feel the emotions bubble to the surface and if you feel the urge to cry, CRY. Let it go! Even if you have to shout or scream into a pillow, release it! See, sense and feel the energy leaving your roots and being absorbed into the earth. Do this visualization until you no longer see or feel any darkness within yourself.

Don't worry about giving Mother Earth your pain. She uses this as 'fertilizer', transforming negative energy into positive energy to be used for the good of the entire natural world. Once you are free of the negativity, fill yourself back up with Light by connecting to your breath and breathing in this Light sparkling energy, letting it fill your body with the brightest sparkling light you can possibly imagine. When you are done, be sure to thank the energy.

Feel free to repeat this meditation as often as necessary. If you still have difficulty releasing, you may also wish to do this while soaking in a salt bath by adding one cup of any kind of salt to the bathwater. Salt will help draw out the negativity while water helps with the emotional aspect of what you are going through. 

Ultimately, the 'trick' to letting things go begins with our willingness to look within and focus on both the light and dark aspects of ourselves.  Resistance and avoidance only causes further pain and imbalances within us which can lead to stress, anxiety, anger, resentment and even dis-ease within the body temple.  As we look inward to the root cause of our issues with the intention of healing, we become empowered to step through the gateway towards our highest potential in life.
